Maiko Miehina I

Maiko Miehina of Kyoto's Miyagawa-cho district. My husband and I had the pleasure of being entertained by her in her home teahouse while on our honeymoon in Kyoto last August. We very much enjoyed her company and she sang and played the shamisen for us. This would be a really good picture of her if it wasn't out of focus.

I am also watching Miehina's career closely as she is due to have her eri-kae ("changing of the collar" ceremony, when a maiko graduated to geiko) sometime this late spring. I would like to find a way to get in touch with her so I can send her a note of congratulations when the time comes. I'm sure she will be a beautiful geiko!
