This is my pair of cutom Vans shoes, done with a Kyoto geiko-maiko theme. The right shoe (left in the photo) has a maiko dancing, with a blue wave background. The left shoe (right in the photo) has a lovely young geiko with a fuscia and pink wave background. Both shoes feature five lanterns, each with a crest of one of Kyoto's five hanamachi, or geisha districts. (From outside corner in: Gion Higashi, Pontocho, Gion Kobu, Miyagawa-cho, and Kamishichiken.)
These were quite a challenge. Not only did I have minimal space to work with, but I didn't know that when Prisma markers met with sharpie, the two bled. But I think they came out pretty well for a first try.
Thank you!! I will wear them if I can find a waterproofing sealant. I would only wear them when it was dry out, though, so I wouldn't risk the colors running.
